Why Your Connection with Your Photographer Matters

Your wedding photographer is more than just someone with a camera — they’re the person who will quietly walk beside you on one of the most emotional, intimate, and unforgettable days of your life.

From the nervous excitement of getting ready, to the moment you see each other for the first time, to the tears, laughter, and wild dance floor moments — I’ll be there for it all. That’s why having a real connection with your photographer matters so much.

When you feel comfortable, you can be completely yourself. The laughter becomes real, the emotions unfold naturally, and the photos tell your story — not a posed version of it. I believe in building trust, so you never have to think about the camera — just live in the moment, and I’ll capture it beautifully.

Your wedding day deserves someone who feels like a friend with a camera, not a stranger. Someone who understands your story, your personalities, and what matters most to you both. Because the best photos don’t just show how your day looked — they show how it felt.

Having Lisa as our photographer was an absolute dream! She was so invested from the first contact and all meetings leading up to the wedding we felt very heard on the type of photos we wanted and didn’t want.

MY STORY

A wedding photographer from Kent with a love for real stories, genuine emotion, and all the beautiful chaos that comes with life and love. Before photography, I was a driving instructor — a job that taught me how to stay calm under pressure, adapt in the moment, and connect with every personality I meet. Those skills have carried straight into my work behind the camera.

As a mum of three, I’ve learned to multitask like a pro and find beauty even in the busiest moments. Life has taught me patience, empathy, and how to bring calm to any situation — something my couples always appreciate on a wedding day.

I also have ADHD, which means when I’m focused, I’m hyper-focused — completely dedicated to the people in front of me. For me, photography isn’t just a date in the diary; it’s a passion, a calling, and a piece of who I am.

Since starting this journey, I’ve been honoured to win Best Newcomer at the Kent Wedding Awards in my second year — and now, as I approach my 100th wedding, I still feel the same excitement every time I pick up my camera. Because every love story is unique, and it deserves to be told with heart.

previous weddings

My photography journey began behind the scenes — as a second shooter, assisting another photographer for over a year. That experience was invaluable. It taught me how to anticipate moments before they happen, manage timelines calmly, and adapt to any situation without missing a beat. I learned the flow of a wedding day from every angle — how to capture emotion naturally, work with light in tricky settings, and support couples in those raw, beautiful moments that unfold between the posed shots.

After gaining that solid foundation, I launched Photography by Lisa five years ago, and I’ve never looked back. Since then, I’ve captured nearly a hundred weddings — each one completely unique. I’ve photographed in everything from dark, candlelit churches and rustic barns to grand country houses and sun-drenched outdoor ceremonies. I’ve worked through heatwaves, storms, power cuts, and the occasional muddy field — and every single challenge has only made me more adaptable and confident in my craft.

Whether it’s a small, intimate gathering or a lavish celebration, my approach remains the same: to tell your story with heart and authenticity. It doesn’t matter if I haven’t photographed at your venue before — with years of experience in every type of environment, I know how to find the best light, the best angles, and the true emotion of your day.

Because at the end of it all, your wedding isn’t about perfection — it’s about connection, and that’s what I’m there to capture.

why i love weddings

Weddings are pure emotion — the laughter, the tears, the nerves, the chaos, the calm, and the love that fills every corner of the day. I love weddings because they’re real. Every single one tells a story that will never happen again in the same way.

For me, it’s not just about the beautiful dress or the venue — it’s the moment a dad sees his daughter in her gown, the deep breath before walking down the aisle, the unspoken look between two people who just promised forever. Those moments are magic, and I get to freeze them in time.

I thrive on the energy of a wedding day — the anticipation in the morning, the joy during the ceremony, the wild dance floor at night. There’s something incredible about being trusted to capture all of it, knowing those images will become part of a couple’s legacy — the photos their children and grandchildren will one day look at.

I don’t just photograph weddings — I feel them. Every story, every laugh, every tear matters to me. That’s why I love what I do — because I get to turn love into something that lasts forever.

my own chapters

My life has been made up of many chapters — being a mum to three incredible girls has taught me more about love, chaos, and strength than anything else ever could. I’ve known love, heartbreak, and everything in between. I’ve lived moments I wish someone had captured — the kind you can never quite describe but always feel. That’s why I believe so deeply in what I do. Photos matter. They hold time still when life won’t slow down.

Outside of photography, I’m the woman singing her heart out in the car, obsessed with history and crime documentaries, and finding beauty in the small, everyday moments. I’m a storyteller through and through — both behind the camera and in life.

On a wedding day, I’m not just there to take photos. I’m there to cheer you on, fix your veil, calm your nerves, and fluff the dress when the bridesmaid forgets. I’ll laugh with you, cry with you, and make sure you actually get to breathe it all in.

Because this isn’t just a photoshoot — it’s your marriage, your story, your once-in-a-lifetime chapter. And I’ll be right there to capture it all, exactly as it feels.
